Tower Insurance wins Employer of the Year award
Tower Insurance has come a long way since its humble beginnings in Fiji. Five years ago, the company operated with just 30 employees in Suva, but today it stands as a testament to growth, resilience, and commitment to local talent.
At the prestigious Prime Minister’s International Business Awards organized by Investment Fiji which was held on November 30, 2024, at the Sheraton Fiji Golf & Beach Resort in Nadi, Tower Insurance was awarded the inaugural Employer of the Year Award, a recognition that highlights dedication to fostering a positive and inclusive work environment.
Tower Insurance Chief Executive Officer Blair Turnbull shared his pride in the company’s journey.
“When I started as CEO with Tower Insurance five years ago, we had about 30 people in Suva. Today, we have over 300 people supporting our customers across six Pacific countries, including Aotearoa, New Zealand,” stated Turnbull.
“It is exciting to see how far we have come in such a short time, and we are equally thrilled about what we can achieve in the years to come,” he added.
Tower’s growth can be attributed to its focus on creating meaningful opportunities for local employees. The company not only provides jobs but also invests in developing its workforce, offering scholarships to local universities and providing avenues for career advancement.
“It’s a privilege to work with the leadership and talent that we have here,” said Turnbull, emphasizing the value Tower Insurance places on its employees and the community.
The Employer of the Year Award, sponsored by the Fiji National Provident Fund, recognized a business that set a high standard in employee welfare, resilience, and engagement.
Tower Insurance’s commitment to its workforce is evident in its comprehensive benefits package, focus on employee growth, and community engagement initiatives. The company has consistently demonstrated innovation in supporting its staff, particularly during challenging times, through flexible working arrangements and a culture that fosters collaboration.
Investment Fiji’s Chief Executive Officer, Kamal Chetty, praised Tower for its leadership in creating an environment that supports both the professional and personal growth of its people.
“We congratulate Tower Insurance on their win and it is great to see them setting the bar high for businesses across Fiji and the Pacific,” said Chetty.
