Road King Farms awarded for agribusiness innovation
From the Garden Island of Fiji, Road King Farms being a trailblazer in the Fijian agriculture sector took home the Agribusiness Innovation Award at the 2024 Prime Minister’s International Business Awards.
The company transforms local produce into global exports and empowers farmers while prioritizing quality.
Road King Farms has significantly contributed to the nation’s economic growth with a diverse range of products and a commitment to sustainability, redefining Fiji’s agriculture sector on the world stage.
Business owner Atish Prasad, expressed his gratitude for the recognition.
“We really appreciate receiving this award tonight,” he said.
“It’s a teamwork, together with the head of the department, the director, the management, the staff, the farmers in Taveuni and all the families,” added Prasad.
“It’s thanks to all their efforts and their blessings that we are here today.”
“We never really expected this award and we are really happy to be here from a small island like Taveuni.”
Prasad said they started with humble beginnings, exporting just five tons per annum, and were now proud to export over 1,000 tons of fresh produce.
“We do fresh and frozen export as we buy from the farmers to process at the warehouse, do the final packing and transport it over to Suva from there to the containers for sea freight or send it by air freight, exporting to several countries,” he added.
Prasad also acknowledged the support of Investment Fiji, which has played a crucial role in the company’s growth and expansion.
Looking ahead, Road King Farms plans to further expand its operations, with a focus on value-added coconut products such as cream and palusami can packs.
The company is committed to creating sustainable livelihoods for farmers and contributing to Fiji’s economic growth.
