These are, Be Proactive, begin with the end in mind, put first things first, think win-win, seek first to understand, synergize and sharpen the saw. Mr. Mark Halabe vision, hard work and steadfast leadership has not only led to the growth of his business but elevated the Textile, Clothing and Footwear industry in Fiji. As the managing director of Mark One Apparel, Mr. Halabe transformed his businesses from what started as a small factory in Vatuwaqa in 1987 to what the company is today. It is through Mr. Halabe’s ideas and vision, his company target niche markets such as providing sportswear for some of the world’s renowned teams. Mark One Apparel is the supplier of sports uniform to 11 NRL, 5 AFL and 5 Super League Clubs. The company has also secured the Fiji Rugby Union License. According to judges, Mr. Halabe has what it takes to be a leader. Judges commended him for his humbleness and ‘can do’ attitude in growing his business.

    Trustworthiness, outstanding communication along with building and maintaining strong relationships are some of the reasons why the judges have selected Mr. Mohammed Tazim as the winner of the Excellence in Business Leadership award. As Chief Executive Officer of Hygiene and Sanitization Services, Mr. Tazim is passionate about his company and the staff who work with him. His participative management style coupled with the company’s dedication to customer service has seen the company win a number of awards and citations. Transitioning from a police officer into the family business was not easy, but dedication and hard work has seen his business grow from 9 employees a decade ago to 120 employees now. Mr. Tazim’s leadership roles extend into the wider community including Chairman of the Lautoka Rotary Club and along with his company, he has been involved in many other community fundraising activities and is an inspiration to all who know him
